Staša Zurovac: THE SONG OF SONGS

Following the successful cooperation with the Portuguese ballet troupe CeDeCe, namely after the very successful exchange of guest performances, Rijeka's Ballet decided to expand the collaboration by means of a co-produced performance that will subsequent to its showing at the Festival make guest presentations in several cities in Portugal. This kind of cooperation justifiedly designates Rijeka's Ballet as international, thus affirming the Ballet as a valid member of the European dance scene.

The ballet performance consists of two parts: the first part titled „Penelope“, the choreographer and director of which is Luis Sousa, whose work we already had the opportunity to see last year, and the second part is „The Song of Songs“ choreographed by Staša Zurovac. In this connection, Staša Zurovac will be the choreographer for the Portuguese dancers, while Rijeka's ballet ensemble will perform „Penelope“ under the guidance of Luis Sousa.

The premiere of both parts will be played upon the original music of Marjan Nećak  and executed by the orchestra of Rijeka's „HNK Ivan Zajc“.
