An atmospheric hit performance in which the famous Croatian film director Vinko Brešan has proved himself to be an as equally excellent theatre director. It was voted the most fulfilling performance at the “Rijeka Summer Nights 2005”, and is traditionally in the festival program, which is exactly how audiences want it.

“At Portić in Kantrida, with its perfect view over the Kvarner bay, Brešan builds a small world in a theatrical setting that is full of cinematic effect where at first glance nothing seems to be happening. The picture of island life is built slowly without abrupt jumps, but has a discord that flows under the surface of the dramatic events like storms that the sea has not yet delivered.

Visibly it was a more than clever move for Brešan to accept the direction of this performance, where he has used his rich film experience to add a new qualitative stimulus in the interpretation of Novak’s excellent work.”
