FROM CLASSICS TO POP

 The
Youth Symphony Orchestra of Strassbour has approximately seventy young
musicians, aged 15 to 30. Members are mostly French, but there are also
Brits, Germans and other nationalities.
Each year the Orchestra has about twelve concerts performing the
classics (Dvořak, Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Ravel, Verdi, etc.) as well as
modern works, such as film music (Far and Away by J. Williams, Pirates
of the Caribbean by H. Zimmer, etc.) or musicals (Chicago, Fiddler on
the Roof, Broadway Showstoppers).
The finale
of each
season is a summer tour which i s
to reward the members for their hard work throughout the season and to
give them new experiences performing for audiences of different
countries and cultures. So far they have performed in Greece, Italy,
Canada, USA, Poland and Austria. This year they are visiting Rijeka,
Croatia, performing for Rijeka Summer Nights.
