“One of the most subversive Croatian plays, written during communism,
has survived the disintegration of a one-party
political system
because it never
was a play about the system, but
about the people constituting it: Bukara, Puljo and Mačak, the most
vivid characters of 20th century Croatian drama, who have
survived the fall of communism together with this play.”
